All song submissions, regardless of chart, are subject to screening by three separate AI-music detection systems. If at least two of the three return an AI-related probability, score, or detection result greater than 15%, the single will not be accepted for TIRC chart eligibility.
Screening determines chart eligibility only. An ineligible result is not an accusation or a determination of intentional AI use, misconduct, dishonesty, or copyright infringement.
Read the full AI music policyTex-Mex is Texas-rooted crossover music where country and American roots traditions meet Mexican-American and Texas-Mexican musical influences. This chart recognizes the country and roots-oriented intersection of those traditions; it does not redefine Tejano, conjunto, Texas country, or any other established genre.
Each recording must demonstrate a recognizable, meaningful musical connection to both Texas country, country, Western swing, Americana, or American roots music AND Mexican-American, Tejano, conjunto, norteño, Texas-Mexican, or related border-music traditions. The crossover must be part of the overall sound, rather than a single borrowed element.
The blend may be heard in songwriting, storytelling, instrumentation, vocals, rhythms, or production. Influences can include accordion, bajo sexto, fiddle, acoustic or electric guitar, steel guitar, traditional country rhythm sections, polka, waltz, cumbia, conjunto, norteño, Western swing, blues, roots-rock, and Mexican-American melodic or rhythmic traditions. These examples are not exhaustive. No single instrument, rhythm, language, or production style automatically qualifies a recording. An accordion alone does not turn a country song into Tex-Mex; an acoustic guitar or country imagery alone does not turn a Tejano or conjunto recording into Tex-Mex.
Artists do not have to be from Texas or be Hispanic, Latino, or Mexican-American. Surname, ethnicity, nationality, residence, appearance, and cultural identity neither qualify nor disqualify a recording. Songs may be in English, Spanish, bilingual, or instrumental. Every recording must meet the same musical crossover standard.
TIRC Tex-Mex recognizes new cultural influences, instrumentation, rhythms, languages, and perspectives while preserving a meaningful country and roots foundation: songwriting, musicianship, authenticity, and the independent spirit of Texas music. The purpose is to preserve that tradition, expand its reach, and recognize another branch growing from those roots.
The standard TIRC release requirements continue to apply: submit original, radio-ready releases available through the artist's official Spotify or Apple Music profile. TIRC may request supporting documentation and uses music-integrity screening before approval. Genre qualification is reviewed for each recording; submission does not guarantee acceptance, airplay, or ranking.
